The Article

As a person that is interested in psychology and other things that contribute to how the minds of humans work, I thought that the Sigmund Frued article was most compelling. The article covers the topic of Destiny more specifically the destiny of Oedipus the King. Frued states that the reason the story is so compelling to modern-day audiences as it was the Greek audiences lies in the fact that Most people are able to relate to Oedipus. the psychologist Frued presents the idea known as the Oedipus Rex complex, which he explains in the article. Freud believes that like Oedipus when men are borh there is a natural sexual impulse towards their mothers, and hate or a murderous impulse towards their father. Freud states that our dreams are the ones that convince us of these ideas. Whats interesting is that Frued believes that when "the poet Sophocles brings Oedipus' guilt to light he is compelling us to recognize our own inner minds, in which the same impulses lie". After reading this and learning of the complex I thought, back and could throughly understand why mothers often have a natural affinity with their sons. This aritical further enlightened me on Frueds ideals and at the say time was a joy to read
